My Fellow Realm Traveler,

Up to this point, I have kept my identity a secret. There have been rumors regarding a mysterious benefactor who helped Petersen Games fulfill Cthulhu Wars® Onslaught 4.

I am this benefactor.

Allow me to introduce myself. My name is H.C. Quimbley, historian, game enthusiast and realm-traveler extraordinaire. Now, you may be wondering, ‘Why would some stranger send me a letter?’ That’s a great question, so let me answer it! First off, you and I are not actually strangers - we first met when you came to me on one of your own universe-hopping adventures requesting that I send this message to your past self. That may sound strange, but once we get to know each other better, very little will sound strange to you ever again! Certain facts will be helpful in elucidating our friendship, so let me provide some details.

Far in your future (when I was a lad), I discovered a battered copy of Call of Cthulhu while on an archeological dive of Old New York with my dad. I have many fond memories of playing it with him. As I’m sure it did with you, this role-playing game immersed me in the world of Lovecraftian lore. I will forever be indebted to game designer Sandy Petersen for that experience.

After researching Sandy’s company, I was sad to learn that Petersen Games suffered significant financial setbacks due to market disruptions stemming from the Covid pandemic. They never produced another game after 2020.

But then, I met you!

In one of your own realm-traveling adventures, you discovered a Cthulhu Wars® expansion that had never been produced, and most curiously, it had my Quimbley’s Toys & Games company logo on it. How could this be? According to the history decks, such a game had never been created, and yet I held it in my hand. It was a paradox that I still don’t fully understand. You helped me realize I needed to come back in time and save Petersen Games. You also told me to make sure you read this message, as it set you on a path to adventure you never would have enjoyed otherwise. So, with your help, I altered the creation of my toy and game company in the past so that we could produce these paradoxical games that never existed.

Thanks to you, my company, Quimbley’s Toys and Games, has entered into an exclusive agreement where, in addition to our own games and other products, we have taken on the roles of producer, marketer and distributor for Petersen Games. In short, we are now the publishers of Cthulhu Wars®, Planet Apocalypse®, and all current or forthcoming Petersen titles (announced and otherwise!).

One of our top priorities is to satisfy ALL unfulfilled Petersen Games’ Kickstarter backers in one way or another. Every. Single. One. In coming weeks expect more announcements on the how and when of this.

Now, this isn’t an easy endeavor. We’ll be helping Petersen Games to do this through the selling of their existing inventory, much of which has been off the market for several years. This means that Petersen Games products (Cthulhu Wars, etc.) are back in-stock and available for purchase as of now through Quimbleys.com. Again, fulfilling these games isn’t an easy (or cheap) process, and we want to be transparent. For those of you who are backers and currently waiting, you may need to pay for shipping once the time comes, but we will make this expense up to you in other products that we will provide free of charge. These will be bonus add-on items that, as the manufacturer, we can supply to help offset the cost and make you as whole as we can. We know this has been a long wait for many of you, and we want to do our best to satisfy everyone.

But game fulfillment is only the tip of the iceberg. I’m a gamer at heart, which is why I started this business in the first place. Sandy Petersen and the Petersen Games brain trust are working with the Quimbley’s team to produce more games with an even broader range of entertainment partners. We are developing multiple new games and merchandise with the family of legendary fantasy artist Frank Frazetta, using his incredible paintings. You can see samples of our Frazetta Tarot Cards here on this page to give you a glimpse at what we have in store for you. We’ve also teamed up with artist and author Steven Heumann to create entirely new worlds for you to explore based on his popular sci-fi books. And if you’re looking for family entertainment, author Mike Agrelius has joined us too, providing laughter and learning for kids of all ages with his fun picture and riddle books. There is so much coming from our factory I can barely contain my excitement! And to top it all off, You can see below a pre-production Cthulhu card from our realm-hopping card game Strange Dominions™ that has been a big hit throughout the universe and all of time.

You have already experienced realms of adventure and dark secrets that have threatened your very sanity. You’ve fought cosmic entities, flown in spaceships, and battled demons. You are the very epitome of the type of courageous adventurer I seek in my own gaming ventures. Our meeting and becoming friends was not an accident. As universal travelers, you and I are going to have a lot of fun together.

The prospect of meeting you again at some point on my own adventures is quite thrilling, and to facilitate that, I have hidden clues on the items featured throughout this webpage so you can help me restore balance to the realms. I haven’t made things too easy for you, but I know you wouldn’t have it any other way. Every item on this page will be needed to solve the puzzle, so pay attention to detail, read through everything, and CLICK HERE to start your journey.
